I was having major FOMO for the 4th. I felt like we should be right in the thick of the chaos in and around DC, but Jer had been sick over the weekend and didn't really want to fight the crowds or sit in the heat with the kids ALL day. We opted to stay close, BBQ and do our own fireworks. It was a lazy morning of screen time, followed by a trip to the pool, and then over to the Simkins for BBQ and fireworks. When we got home we put Lacey down because she was not a fan of the fireworks and let the kids light the rest of the fireworks in the driveway. They were happy as clams to be in charge!
The kids could have cared less to be in DC and told us it was the best 4th of July ever!
