Memory Monday!

This one put herself down for a nap! Never happens and I gladly took the quiet time!

She loves to cook with me and mix! I love having a shadow and hopefully teaching her some cooking skills.

Lew Thomas.

Jer's Grandpa Thomas passed away. It was a sad relief. He has been going down hill for a little bit now and finally his health failed. We were sad that we all couldn't make it back for the funeral, but glad that Jer got to be there.

Revolutionary War weekend at Mount Vernon!

We bought tickets a while back to visit Mt. Vernon during the revolutionary war reenactment. Sadly it was just the kids and I because Jer was attending his Grandpa's funeral. Tickets were too expensive for all of us to go:( IT was rainy and super wet but it was neat to be there as all the soldiers were walking around and to actually see the battle.

George and Martha.

Enjoying the museum.

I don't think I could have picked a better spot to watch the battle. We were right in the middle of it and taking place literally 10 feet away from us!

White house Tour!

We played hooky from school and braved the downpour to tour the White house. In all my time and travel to DC I have never been able to visit inside the White House.

Leah loving the library. All the rooms are still used today and just roped off for the public tours.

There was a Eagle in every room and some you had to look a little harder then others, its was something to keep the kids engaged and to actually look around the room.

The only time they asked for a picture was with the fountain...go figure!

On the way to the car Jer found a little bird and picked the dirty thing up!!! I was not happy about it because then all the kids wanted to hold it too!  It's the highlight of the tour too!

Busts, pictures, china, silver, and paintings of from all the different presidents were throughout the halls and rooms.

Art Park and American History Museum!

Feeding the ducks in the fountain.

I think the highlight of every trip is the wildlife. The kids had the squirrels eating out of their hands this time.

American History Museum. Ran out of time, but we will be visiting this one again!

Slap the Jack!

The kids were playing slap the Jack and couldn't figure out how to play nicely(shocker I know) so Jer took over. He basically combined killer spoons with slap the jack. The kids had to sit and wait till a Jack was flipped and then run to get the toy(a small emoji key chain). They could have played all night. Lacey was the only poor spot and wanted it to be here turn to get the toy every-time. They are so sad when we had to call it for the evening!!
